Lancome Ombre Magnétique in Black Macadam Review, Photos, Swatches

As I visited a nearby Lancome counter I saw the three Lancome Ombre Magnétiques on display for testing and was instantly sad because I had not ordered online before they sold out …TWICE. However, I happened to look into the glass casing and noticed there were some boxes of the Ombre Magnétique! 😀 So of course, I had to get the black one because it was most versatile.

This product (along with Giorgio Armani’s Eyes to Kill Eyeshadow I presume) has quite the fascinating texture. It may be just me, but I got into beauty merely 2 years ago, and only since last year have I actually been buying quite a lot of makeup/beauty for a student. 🙂

Regardless, Ombre Magnétique feels “gritty” when handling little chunks but when it is applied, it is very smooth and retains a somewhat gel-like consistency. Essentially, it is as though Lancome mixed loose eyeshadow (or pigment!) into an eyeshadow with some binding product to create this.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. On my fingers, it leans slightly blue, and you can see it in the above photo as well. The sparkles are all white, yet there is dimension because the sparkles are capable of reflecting colors in its vicinity (I think). Thus, in this picture, my lighting was natural sunlight and maybe some of the green scenery outside to give it a greenish undertone. However, under the fluorescent lighting indoors, I only noticedthe sparkles reflecting white, because the lighting is white and my ceiling happens to be a plain white! Sounds reasonable, no?

Yes there is fallout, so be cautious when applying but other than that, this is a product that looks great by itself on the eyelid. (Especially for a Korean girl like me, who has no crease to speak of 😦 Therefore, using more than 2 colors is uncommon LOL)

I wonder what the 03G means…

I took a picture of the ingredients if anyone was curious

I really like the sleek, cool-to-the-touch packaging. Its made out of glass and is not a fingerprint magnet. 🙂

I laughed when I saw this plastic barrier/covering sitting on top of the eyeshadow. Totally unexpected.

Hehe, here I became too eager to play with the texture of this “ombre magnétique” rather than preparing myself to photograph my new buy LOL. Quite a common occurrence these days, really… XD

NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo Review, Swatches, Photos

As I read the major beauty blogs on the net rave about how much they loved NARS Rajasthan, how it was such an unexpected(?) hit… I could not help but go buy one for myself! 😀

1 Word, WOW. They were definitely NOT kidding.

direct sunlight

not as direct sunlight

I love both shades of the eyeshadow duo. Excellent pigmentation, non-existent fall out and even in the pan, I don’t “scuff” up excess eyeshadow! 😀 A big plus for NARS this fall 2010 season.

Swatched on my bare arm (with NARS Orgasm and MAC Stereo Rose just for fun haha)
Sorry about the visibility of my arm pores LOL. I have a bit of arm hair so pigmentation is slightly so-so in some areas.

Swatched on a makeup sponge (sold in 15-packs from CVS)

As soon as I had my hands on Rajasthan, I took it out of its packaging and simply admired the duo. The taupey-bronze paired with the darkened-teal-black seemed to underscore the brilliance of this duo. However, when I got home and swatched Rajasthan on my arm, I was dismayed as the teal color was muddy, sheer, and flat. 😦 Thus, I was quite surprised to see all the shimmer and pigmentation shown on the sponge above, gleaming in the light.
On the other hand, I was not surprised at the left-side’s overall excellence in pigmentation, payoff and wear. Applied on top of Urban Decay Primer Potion, the taupey-bronze color lasted approx. 9 hours!
Overall, I really love this duo, and will continue to use this for years to come ❤ In addition, the packaging of my particular Rajasthan Duo is quite curious. In the second picture of this post, along the center, there is a weird bronze discoloration. At first, I thought that it was the taupe color, but upon closer inspection and cleaning/rubbing, it did not disappear, and I have concluded that it is just… part of the palette. :O Albeit this strange feature, I must say that, for those of us who are unsure whether or not they should take the plunge to grab this duo, I SAY GO NOW! NARS’s “limited edition” products DO remain in stock for a long time after, but in case Mr. NARS does pull this product, you will have your own Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo, right? 😀
As a bonus, here are sponge swatches of NARS Orgasm and MAC Stereo Rose, respectively.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #15 Taupe & Jill Stuart Jelly Eye N in Platinum Satin Swatches

Just as I had planned, I got my hands on Jill Stuart Jelly Eye N! I chose Platinum Satin which is a shimmery pink color that would work well as a quick swipe over my lids or as a base with my Jill Stuart Eyeshadow Palette!

Sorry about the smudges on the cap!

Also, I didn’t like Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in Warm Beige because it blends in with my eyelid/lash-line, making my lids very reflective and not “ooh~ pretty glitter” like Jill Stuart’s eyeshadows. Besides, I bought #13 Warm Beige in the first place to emulate SNSD’s Taeyeon & Jessica and Davichi’s Kang MinKyung’s eye makeup…

Previously an ulzzang (얼짱 = 얼굴 짱! = Face “Best/Amazing/Great!”), Davichi’s Kang MinKyung (강민경)

Eyelids and Nails! Interesting of her to mix fall nail polish colors…

ㅠㅠ But this aqua cream lacked the glitter that their makeup had. Instead, Warm Beige was overly shimmery without much depth to the colors of shimmer/glitter that it contained.

(I think I will be using the desk next to my computer for swatching LOL. Pretty accurate!!! This desk was bought at Ikea a couple of years ago…haha)

But now I will try SNSD’s Run Devil Run Makeup using my new Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #15 Taupe (:

Although her eyelids are of a different color, this is the idea I would follow.
Line my eyes, apply Urban Decay Primer Potion or NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base maybe? and apply the Aqua Cream in Taupe as the base-color and blend blend blend eyeshadows on top of it! (:

MAC Stereo Rose and Happy July!

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! 🙂

With my parents, I went “camping for a day” or just BBQing it up with 3 other pairs of parents………. haha

My dad is the type who doesn’t really trust others to “get the job done” so his decision to stay the night at a nearby hotel was a pleasant surprise. The hotel was still being refurnished but the campground’s owner called ahead of time to inform the hotel’s owner that we needed a place to stay, last minute.

Overall, for safety reasons, I will not include the hotel name but it is over 100 years and very vintage-y furnishing. 🙂 I was watching House at night with my mom because my dad fell asleep immediately from exhaustion.

Haha anyway, this week has been a blast as I successfully ordered Stereo Rose from the MAC In the Groove Collection online!

I tried swatching Stereo Rose on my arm, but it REALLY did not show up well. D:

Next, I picked up my MAC 129SH (SH = shorter handle so its perfect for girls on-the-go) and applied it on my cheeks. WOW. I have a NARS Orgasm blush but holy cow, this beats Orgasm by miles. I think that the 2010 Version of Stereo Rose is more suited for warm-toned skin, which I think I have? Verdict: My skin-tone is questionable. When it is pale, anything I throw on looks great, pretty, etc. but when I tan a bit, bright or pastel colors suddenly look iffy. Not on my face, but on my legs, I see a lot of green veins so I’m thinking that my skin is warm-toned? Therefore, that may be why NARS Orgasm is a wonderful color, but just doesn’t suit me?

AHAH! Next time I’ll post a swatch comparing Stereo Rose and Orgasm. 🙂

In addition, I picked up Kate Somerville’s Exfolikate after seeing Christine from Temptalia’s enthusiasm over it. 😀 I shall review the samples that I also got from buying Exfolikate (at Neiman Marcus).

A scary green color. It is pretty gritty, but it works really well! My skin did feel a bit sensitive/irritated for the first minute or so but that’s because I failed by using it on dry skin rather than wet skin. Hehe

Cute smiley face
As usual, unexpectedly small… comparison to a standard box of Kleenex Tissues.

Oh and I got around to taking pictures of the nail polish that I’m using. OPI Pink-a-Doodle is beautiful. The color isn’t in your face and it isn’t too sheer. Just what I wanted. Theres an iridescence in the bottle that disappears when applied… similar to the new Chanel Paradoxal Nail Polish? Haha I only applied 2 coats with no top or base coat 😛 and it chipped a bit on two fingers. Last time, it didn’t chip. AT ALL, and I had it on for a little over a week?
Not the best swatch, so I’m pretty sure I’ll reswatch this in the near future because lighting wasn’t very great today. Too many shadows, but I was eager to show off my quick manicure! 🙂

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in 13 Warm Beige

When I went out to buy my friend’s birthday gift, I also picked up one of Make Up For Ever’s new Aqua Creams while hitting up Sephora 🙂

I selected number 13, also known as Warm Beige. Applied on both the eyes and the cheeks, 13 has a very smooth and creamy texture. It blends well, but when I applied too much of 13, I looked somewhat tacky?

Overall I think this is a fun product to play with and wear time is amazing, but I don’t really like something about it. Perhaps its too warm for my skintone? The other day I played around with Shiseido’s Hydropowder Eyeshadows which became a powder once it dried down. I’m not too sure yet if I like colors that aren’t neutrals to pinks hehe 😛 as of yet, so when I swatched H11 Rose Tulle, I thought WHOAAAAA! 😀

H3 reminded me of a really sheer lipstick… So I’m not sure about this color, and whether I would look like I bruised myself? …Idk.

Chanel quad in Plumes Swatches

So here are the swatches for the Chanel quad in Plumes

I took these pictures on a cloudier day so, sorry about the blue-toned background. Colors 3 and 4 are off, as 3 is much darker in life, and 4 is more brown-grey than blue-black.

The 1st color is a pearlescent/frosty kind of red shimmer which swatched pretty well, the 2nd color has the most shimmer of all 4 colors. I’m not exactly sure how to describe the sparkly specks of pigment, hehe, but this swatched best. The next two colors had bad to worse pigment pay-off. Color number 4 resembles MAC Eyeshadow in Antiqued. This color was actually matte in real life, not too shimmery? Although I can’t really tell as there is shimmer everywhere in that palette (not willing to clean it up) and none in the swatches… I’ll reswatch sometime soon. Color number 3 is similar to MAC Grape Pigment the most, and it took forever to pat down that much pigment onto my arm. UGH

Bonus pictures of Liz Claiborne Makeup, “distributed by Innovage, Inc. Foothill Ranch, CA 92610” wherever that is. (website is supposedly this crappy site at http://www.innovage.net)

Didn’t bother swatching this “SHIMMERING EYE COLOR KIT”
