NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo Review, Swatches, Photos

As I read the major beauty blogs on the net rave about how much they loved NARS Rajasthan, how it was such an unexpected(?) hit… I could not help but go buy one for myself! 😀

1 Word, WOW. They were definitely NOT kidding.

direct sunlight

not as direct sunlight

I love both shades of the eyeshadow duo. Excellent pigmentation, non-existent fall out and even in the pan, I don’t “scuff” up excess eyeshadow! 😀 A big plus for NARS this fall 2010 season.

Swatched on my bare arm (with NARS Orgasm and MAC Stereo Rose just for fun haha)
Sorry about the visibility of my arm pores LOL. I have a bit of arm hair so pigmentation is slightly so-so in some areas.

Swatched on a makeup sponge (sold in 15-packs from CVS)

As soon as I had my hands on Rajasthan, I took it out of its packaging and simply admired the duo. The taupey-bronze paired with the darkened-teal-black seemed to underscore the brilliance of this duo. However, when I got home and swatched Rajasthan on my arm, I was dismayed as the teal color was muddy, sheer, and flat. 😦 Thus, I was quite surprised to see all the shimmer and pigmentation shown on the sponge above, gleaming in the light.
On the other hand, I was not surprised at the left-side’s overall excellence in pigmentation, payoff and wear. Applied on top of Urban Decay Primer Potion, the taupey-bronze color lasted approx. 9 hours!
Overall, I really love this duo, and will continue to use this for years to come ❤ In addition, the packaging of my particular Rajasthan Duo is quite curious. In the second picture of this post, along the center, there is a weird bronze discoloration. At first, I thought that it was the taupe color, but upon closer inspection and cleaning/rubbing, it did not disappear, and I have concluded that it is just… part of the palette. :O Albeit this strange feature, I must say that, for those of us who are unsure whether or not they should take the plunge to grab this duo, I SAY GO NOW! NARS’s “limited edition” products DO remain in stock for a long time after, but in case Mr. NARS does pull this product, you will have your own Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo, right? 😀
As a bonus, here are sponge swatches of NARS Orgasm and MAC Stereo Rose, respectively.

Wishlist03 first week of june

Congratulations everybody! We have finally arrived at June! 🙂

Unfortunately, this week will be HELLLL week D’: I have finals, tests, projects and quizzes this week. Ugh. Wish me luck? ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

So here is some new and notable stuff:

  1. Stila It Girl Eye Shadow Trio Palette $10 (0.107 oz) in Warm – Stila’s award-winning eyeshadows in Lamé (shimmering gold), Chloe (shimmering bronze), and top-selling color Kitten (shimmering nude pink)? Awesome. *LIMITED EDITION; ONLINE ONLY*
  2. It Girl Eye Shadow Trio Palette - Warm ($54 Value)

  3. Purity Clean by CosMedix $34 (3.3 fl oz.) – One great and amazing cleanser that everyone should get their hands on at one time or another… According to many many people 🙂
  4. CosMedix Purity Clean

  5. Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Flora Nymphea $48 (2.5oz) – I know for a fact that Guerlain fragrances are top-notch, so for these various releases, I am anticipating going over to my Sephora and smelling them 🙂 …Right after all my testing ends. hehe
  6. Aqua Allegoria Flora Nymphea

  7. NARS Douceurs de Paris $55 – Exclusive to Saks, I did not notice this palette until yesterday, hehe. I love the colors in the palette, and I am looking into a palette of neutral and/or smoky colors that I can tote around to change from day to night >:)
  8. Nepal, Fez, Violetta, Abyssinia, Demon Lover, Cordura

  9. Palladium Pampa Hi Top $55 – In Boue (UO listed it as Bone lol), this combination of a sneaker and boot is such an appealing shoe! It is comfortable, and will get the wearer through a trek or a hike and across the streets in NYC 🙂

  10. Vans Girls Sophie White & Black Shoe $54.95 – Not really in stock in any other store besides Zumiez, these “saddle shoe-inspired silhouette” is very sophisticated and hopefully comfy? I noticed some reviews that complained of its poor quality; that it fell apart pretty quickly or the paint started to peel… 😦
  11. H by Halston Stella $79.95 – These limited edition shoes from Bakers… I want at least the silver one, if not the black >#<;;;; ㅠㅠ
  12. Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser $29.95 – An award-winning, deep cleansing organic aha rejuvenator, this cleanser is top-notch for a great price and is VEGAN! 😀

In the meantime, I will be studying my butt off for this week’s plethora of tests …ㅠㅠ

I’ve been posting less lately because I’ve been on and off sick with a mild-fever and indigestion. Plus, there are some issues going on at school because these two mental girls did something… Although my side has won this round 🙂 My side of… 1…2…3…4…5+ girls!

Against their petty two. Meh, the administration has gotten involved and perhaps I’ll get to hear if the police really ARE involved as my mom had mentioned…?

  1. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream $15, 24 (1.25 oz tube, 2.75 oz jar) I’d like the tube version… Heck, if its good enough, my search for an “eye cream” is over, yo!♥
  2. Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream $22  (0.21 oz) in eyes&cheeks 3 Silver & 4 Snow & 11 Gold & 13 Warm Beige & 16 Pink Beige; lips&cheeks 5 Peach & 9 Coral; these would be beautiful to imitate more SNSD makeup! –as in taeyeon and sica’s. :D♥♥♥♥♥
  3. Illamasqua Liquid Metal $24 for copper&gold, $26 for silver and steel (0.05 oz) These are for body use, and that may be interpreted as not-my-face, or my entire body, head to toe. IDK
  4. Make Up For Ever Eyelash Strips $15 Including eyelash glue, there is SO MUCH VARIATION and MUFE provides great quality lashes for just $16! I am anticipating the day I get my hands on these 🙂
  5. La Mer The Hand Treatment $70 (3.4 fl oz) One of the more cheap and effective products produced by La Mer, the Hand Treatment is something I’d like to buy something from La Mer for my mother… maybe a late Mother’s Day gift? As I was busy studying so I could not cut my last class and buy her something. 😦 Although she said she was running out of her skincare stuff that she bought and began by buying a $85 Vitamin C serum thingy.
  6. Origins A Perfect World for Eyes $32 (0.5 fl oz) A nicely priced product from Origins, I was planning to get this eye cream before I saw the Yu-Be cream on Sephora’s website.
  7. Abercrombie & Fitch Quinn Romper (Blue) $68 I doubt I’ll buy this, but it’s so PRETTY!
  8. I really need a waxing kit (like this?) & something that will target my ingrown hairs (like this)
  9. NARS Multiple Tint $38 I’m not sure which one I’ll like most, but I know that I wouldn’t want to buy Turks&Caicos because I have no idea where I would use that on my face. Although I AM on the hunt for a great orange lipstick for both my friend and I. Most likely, it’ll be from YSL unless we’re going to save money/quality and going to MAC or MUFE. (Although the latter sounds more likely, as I am unsure if orange will be a trend for much longer…)

That’s all for today! OMG MAY IS ALMOST OVER!

Makeup & Nails like SNSD’s Jessica or Sica (제시카)

Moving along, this is Jessica or Sica (제시카 –real name, 정수연), also from SNSD.

A fan took this picture when the group performed “Run Devil Run” at a concert on April 24th. Unfortunately, SNSD has come to the end of their 4-month long promotion that started with Oh! 😥

Regardless, her outfit is all black with accessories that incorporates studs. Her nails are a tan-caramel color? Her eyelids have a wash of neutral tan/taupe/brown colors and she is wearing a natural pink lipgloss.

Note the well-defined eyebrows and minimal blush. Perhaps a bit of contouring work going on… after all it IS SNSD, they’ve got to look great! haha

And of course, to top off her look, she is wearing strip false eyelashes haha 🙂

I would suggest any natural falsies that lengthen or darken. If you need extra volume, apply mascara, however, mascara WILL deteriorate the falsies faster than just gluing on the falsies. Also, any drugstore brand is fine but keep in mind that the glue you use will be significant for ease, comfort and lasting-power!

  1. Make Up For Ever Eyelashes $15 – 156, 105, or 106. Comes with glue.
  2. Shu Uemura False Eyelashes $16 for the singles or the really long falsies to $18-25 for the others. $50+ for the more fancier styles. These do not come with glue, and do not have as many natural styles.

TOMORROW IS FRIDAY! thank goodness!

Whooooo lot’s of posting going on lately, yes? 😀

Today is Wednesday, the middle of the week. I suppose it is therefore, special in its own sense haha.

What I’m itching to buyyyyyy! (Usually I’m bored of these wishlists, but I’d like to retain my sanity when I’m wondering about what was on my list of items I had wanted to buy…)

  1. Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder Quartet Air Sensation $63 …WHAT?! That price is outrageous!
  2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Printed Nylon Pouch $58 New makeup bag perhaps? 10″ x 7″ x 1″! Greatest dimensions I’ve ever seen, even if it is very flat haha.
  3. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion $17 I would like to zap my pimples sooner than later… sigh
  4. Shaveworks The Cool Fix $11, $25 After buying this “soothing blue gel that alleviates shaving and waxing woes,” I’m seriously need to get my own waxing kit, including a wax warmer to do this the right way! 😀
  5. Fresh Sugar Face Polish $55 Unfortunately, I do not have any sort of facial scrubs at home. Yeah, bad thinking huh? I do not even have a body exfoliator, but I’m LOOKING! I just don’t have the time to drag my mom and I to the mall as I do not have my license yet ㅠㅠ
  6. J.Crew Broken-in Boyfriend Chino Short $49.50, $39.50 These shorts look comfy, stylish and are pretty CHEAP! Not too bad of a find from J.Crew, right? 🙂
  7. Steven by Steve Madden “Bside” Tote $148 Hm, this bag IS expensive but it is among the best on the Nordstrom website… I shall spend more time on other websites. In the meantime, I’m off to bed! GOOD NIGHT 🙂

One last note to self, must buy Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer $40 for friend’s 18th Birthday!

May 14, 2010

  1. Toms Bennet Metallic Slip-On $85 Toms are ridiculously comfortable! And I really want a stylish pair that wouldn’t make me feel like I’m wayyyyy older than I really am, like, 3x my age or something? So, these are a must!
  2. Topshop Makeup’s Gloss in Heatwave $10 This orange color! Wow I really want a bright pop of color, and I think this particular shade will be very useful 🙂

Cream Shadow– Makeup like 김태연 (Kim TaeYeon of 소녀시대(SNSD)/Girls’ Generation)

This be taeyeon=태연; taengoo=탱구; etc. heehee
She is the leader of a South Korean girlgroup called 소녀시대–So Nyuh Shi Dae = SNSD or in English, Girls’ Generation.

Thus the “various” names, capiche? 🙂

Anyway, she was the leader –but they took the strain/pressure/stress off her shoulders from leader duties such as representing the group, and taking care of business with staff during photoshoots and varying things that they take care of with their authority– and just became one group of 9 girls women its really difficult to really label their age… young adults? They’re all 20-22 years old.

So her lids for a live performance– YES they sing their songs LIVE (so not as much computer editing going on but people continue to incorporate autotune…*coughbravebrothers*) while dancing, and synchronizing as a freaking group of 9! (They have been training since their elementary or middle school days in various aspects to be refined for the entertainment world…) They perform live 3 times in a weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, due to the existence of 3 different tv channels/stations. (There is a 4th one but SNSD’s company and that station do not have very good ties due to CD distribution fail or something…? *shrugs shoulders* I forget… go wiki that too! I am NOT relaying incorrect information so utilize the inter-webs people! haha)

— are typically shimmering, but there is a slight wash of color depending on the concept that they’re following at the specific situation.

So I was looking up cream eyeshadows alllll over!
And not just any cream eyeshadow, but the one that her stylist most likely applied, because whatever it is MUST be good because it has to last hours, sweat, or in general, strain. 🙂

So I’ve got the list down to what would be applied via 1 STEP rather than utilizing 2 or 3 products haha ;D

  1. Shiseido ‘The Makeup’ Hydro-Power Eye Shadow $25 (0.21 oz) in H8 Bare Pink or H9 Glistening Sand or H12 Lemon Sugar
  2. Yves Saint Laurent ‘Fard Lumiere Aquaresistant’ Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow $30 (0.22 oz) in #1 Pink Sands or #2 Amethyst Grey (summer 2010’s Riviera Blue looks STUNNING TOO OMG)
  3. Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner $19 (0.16 oz) in Tattle Tale or R.S.V.P.
  4. Clinique Quick Eyes Cream Shadow $15 (0.17 oz) in Seashell or Sparkling Nude
EDIT: here are more brands i’ve decided to consider!
  5. Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N $33.35/3050yen–shipping included () in 01 diamond snow or 02 gold light or 03 platinum satin (jill stuart is available in asia or this website i linked to OR at their soho store which i may visit on the 22nd with a friend of mine)
  6. Addiction by Ayako $34.44/3150yen–shipping included () in …many shades. there are few swatches available so i’ll update the color selections later…
  7. Laura Mercier Metallic Creme Eye Colour $22 in Platinum or Gold
  8. *LE Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Liquid Eyeshadow $17.50 in Sand Shimmer
  9. Stila Smudge Pots $20 in Kitten
  10. Too Faced Eyeshadow Duo $17 in Erotica & Silk Teddy –I’d buy this for the Silk Teddy shade? I have to check how this powder shade appears on real life as I’ve only seen swatches that emphasized the reflective properties of Silk Teddy 😦

I’d like to get swatches for comparisons but we’ll see… right now, it is unlikely I’ll be able to pop my head into the mall. Earliest, June 12th? I’m taking the ACTs hehehehe.

I’ll update details about each potential color, particularly the cheaper cream shadows.

  • Temptalia.com –Bobbi Brown Metallic Long Wear Cream Eyeshadows are not very pigmented!
  • Unlikely to be anything from Make Up For Ever as their line’s shimmery/glittery products are all of a powder form.

*LE – limited edition

Happy May 2010!

I now DO have a mascara… AND an eyeshadow primer.
Therefore I can now apply eyeshadow at school (yes I’m a student, forgot already? 😉 ) and not fear my eyes eating my eyeshadow like it typically does to my eyeliner haha 😦

Mascara? Bare Escentuals Buxom® Lash Mascara in Blackest Black ($18)

(not the best picture, but I was shocked at how big this tube of mascara is… its very very chunky when held.)
Eyeshadow primer? Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden ($18)

I was slightly bummed to see that as soon as I finally get my hands on Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, NARS decides to make an eyeshadow base of their own! 😦

Regardless, I’ll be incorporating these two new additions, and testing out Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance sample that I got from sephora with my purchases and Smashbox’s Lid Primer.

The 3 samples I received from Sephora,

Although I’m disappointed the weekend is over, hopefully we can look forward to a wonderful week! No end to hell week. ughhhhhh ㅠㅠ

Hello world! This is Fany.
